DIY Doll Food: Hot Chocolate

Here is the hot chocolate tutorial I promised. I hope you like it! They are pretty easy to make and don't require much sewing.

You will need:
• White felt
• A spool of white thread (a little bigger than your doll's hand)
• Needle
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun
• White stuffing or cotton balls (not shown)
• Brown fabric (not shown)
• Some thread in a color of your choice (optional)

Ignore the ruler; you do not need it
unless you want to use it to help you cut straight lines.

First, cut a rectangle of white felt that is as tall as your spool of thread. The long side should be able to wrap around the spool with a little excess. Fold it in half and sew both sides together near the edge. Cut of a little bit of the extra fabric off of the sewn side, and turn it inside out.

Next, cut a circle that is a tad larger than the bottom of your spool of thread. It is really important that you thread your needle with white thread now! Pull the piece that you sewed earlier over the spool, and place the circle piece on top.

Sew the circle to the other piece using blanket stitches.

Cut a small strip of white felt, for the handle piece, but make sure it is not too short. Squeeze some hot glue onto half of it, and fold it in half. Test to see if it fits  the cup, as shown in the Picture below. Trim if necessary, and hot glue it to the seam of the cup.

Then, fill the cup with stuffing or cotton balls until it is about 3/4 full. Cut a circle that is a little larger than the top of the cup from the brown fabric. It should not be perfectly round. Put hot glue around the edges of it, and place the circle into the cup, on top of the stuffing. Be sure to press the edges of the brown fabric against the inside of the cup. Now you have hot chocolate!

If you would like, you can sew a simple design on the front, for decoration. I like to sew little hearts onto mine! You could also do something like a star or a snowflake. I hope your dollies enjoy their cocoa! :)
